Encardio-rite has a range of tilt meters and beam sensors that make them one of the top providers of geotechnical instruments. Once such tilt meter is the Model EAN-95MW Wireless tilt meter which is designed for remote monitoring of minor changes in the inclination and vertical rotation of structures.
The wireless tilt meter features high precision MEMS sensors along with a radio transmission network allowing it to provide accurate data. It is encompassed in a weatherproof closure and renders reliable and high-resolution reading with great precision and stability.
The wireless tilt meter system comes with a smartphone application which makes it easy to manage the network with the help of cloud-hosted data management and configuration software. The wireless mesh network allows transferring the data over long distances, without any delay. The real-time data assists to keep the responsible authorities up-to-date and alerts them about the slightest changes. This, in turn, encourages to make crucial decisions timely, increases safety and is more cost-effective.

Application of Wireless Tilt meter
We have already discussed what a tilt meter does, but let’s have a look at where it is used in the geotechnical field.
There are many reasons for changes in the tilt. It may be caused due to heavy construction activities that affect the ground that supports the structure. This may include excavation, tunnelling, and dewatering.
Another cause of tilt change is from the loading of a structure such as loading of a dam during impoundment, of a diaphragm wall during excavation or a bridge deck due to wind and traffic.
These data are then used to identify the early warning signs of deformations, and give enough time for the corrective measure to be taken, or for the safe evacuation of the area.
Here are some places were wireless tilt meter are used:
Monitoring the inclination and rotation of Metro stations, tunnels, etc
Monitoring structures stability in landslide-prone areas
Remote tilt monitoring of retaining walls and buildings
To measure the performance of bridges and struts under load
To monitor deformation of embankments, retaining walls
Operating Principle

Encardio-rite Model EAN-95MW is a wireless tilt meter consisting of a MEMS sensor with a 4 Volt nominal output at ± 15°. For long distances, a mesh wireless network system is used to transmit the output without any signal issues. Each unit of the tilt meter is carefully assessed to make sure it provides high system accuracy and repeatability.
The tilt meters are mounted on to a vertical or horizontal surface with the help of 4 mounting screws or a mounting kit. This leads to a change in the tilt of the tilt meter, which is reflected in the output of the sensor.
Measurement can be made on horizontal or vertical surfaces.
As the readings proceed, they identify the behaviour of the structure and indicate any signs of permanent deformation.
Model EAN-95MW tilt meter is supplied with standard mounting screws/fasteners bracket suitable for wall mounting/vertical surface. However, options are also available on request for mounting the tilt meter on a roof/suspended from the ceiling or on the ...[Continue Reading]
